Looking for a good portfolio manager
Hi there - I think I am close to being done trying to manage my own money. I have proven time and time again that I lack the skills and temperament but also would prefer to have a life. Approx. $2.5M. Do you have any recommendations?
I had a money manager for my 401k during the 1980s to 2010. It was really frustrating as they consistently underperformed the S&P 500. Also, they charged some pretty steep commissions that cut into my nest egg during the lifetime of the fund. I pulled the money out and managed it myself. I know that does not answer your question as to a recommendation for a portfolio manager. I believe you can do better than most buying the S&P 500 index. It will pay you quarterly dividends and grow over time. The main component of any retirement fund is the amount of TIME you have to allow it to grow. Most fund managers underperform the S&P 500.
Good Luck!
